We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Bioinformatician Team Leader to join Selvita's dynamically growing multidisciplinary AI Drug Discovery Team. The successful candidate will lead a team of bioinformaticians and data scientists to support preclinical drug discovery projects performed in partnership with our clients from the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in bioinformatics, computational biology, and data analysis, as well as proven leadership abilities and adaptability to the dynamic environment that marks the CRO nature.

Key Responsibilities
  • Grow, lead, and manage a team of bioinformaticians, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
  • Design and implement bioinformatics strategies to support preclinical drug discovery projects with a focus on the target validation stage.
  • Design and apply bioinformatics solutions to solve problems in a broad scope of therapeutic fields by leveraging and combining information obtained from various data  sources (binding assays, mass-spectroscopy, etc.).
  • Analyze large-scale genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data sets to identify potential drug targets and biomarkers.
  • Implement and deploy biological data analysis methods and tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including biologists, chemists, and pharmacologists to integrate bioinformatics solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest  developments in bioinformatics and computational biology, and incorporate new methodologies into the team's workflow.
Your Background
  • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, or a related field.
  • 5 years of relevant industrial experience as a bioinformatician or computational biologist in the field of preclinical drug discovery.
  • Experience in machine learning and artificial intelligence applications in drug discovery.
  • Knowledge and experience in various areas such as immunology, pharmacology, protein biochemistry, protein interactions, and molecular biology techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of biological pathways, genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data analysis.
  • Proficiency in using bioinformatics databases, algorithms, and tools (i.e.  NCBI, TCGA, RCSB PDB, UniProt, ENSEMBL, GO, BLAST, MSA, GATK, BioPython/Bioconductor packages) in a UNIX-based environment.
  • Programming skills in Python or R and good programming practices.
  • Experience with distributed version control systems (Git or equivalent).
  • Experience in bash scripting.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team of scientists.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with a track record of scientific publications.
